Sedona is one of our favorite MTB destinations in the Southwest. Mountain biking in Sedona is perfect September through May — summers get hot even at elevation, but the shoulder seasons are world-class. The terrain is unlike anything on the West Coast: crazy rock features, red spires, and desert landscape that creates a uniquely challenging and beautiful riding environment.
Best Mountain Bike Trails in Sedona
Slim Shady to HiLine — One of the most challenging rides in Sedona. Starts with a moderate, beautiful climb via Slim Shady, then transitions into HiLine where things get steep and technical: complex climbs on near-sheer cliffs, rock drops, and dry waterfall descents that demand full commitment. My wife Andrea and I can ride most of it, but the waterfall descents always keep me honest. A must-ride for intermediate to advanced riders.
Adobe Jack Trail — My go-to for a fast, flowing evening session. Rides right from downtown Sedona. Twisty, turny desert singletrack with great views of the red rock mountains surrounding town. Fun, faster, less technical — perfect for after-work rides before happy hour.
Bell Rock to Llama Trail — Scenic and fun, flanking the iconic Bell Rock formation. Fast, flowing, a bit less technical — great views and a hoot to ride.
Why We Keep Going Back
We make it to Sedona for a long weekend at least twice a year. The unique trail typography and the scenery keep pulling us back. These adventures are directly behind our mountain bike t-shirt and adventure apparel designs.
If you love excellent singletrack, go ride Sedona. And if you like our designs, let us know — we'll see you out there.
Yours in spreading stoke,
